A Little About Arthur:
I was born and raised in Alabama and I currently reside in Atlanta GA. I own a Fitness and Nutrition Consultation Company, FIT HAPPENS LLC. We believe that Fitness is not just physical but it’s also emotional, social, and of course nutritional. In short : Eat FIT, Train FIT, and Live FIT.
How did you get into fitness and nutrition?
I was overweight when I was younger and vowed to never let that happen again. The nutrition aspect, however, was lacking until my senior year of college when I took an intro to nutrition class. I loved it so much that I went on to get a Master’s degree in Nutrition Science. I always emphasize the importance of nutrition. Exercise is important but the proper nutrition to fuel your body is equally as important.
How did you know you wanted to start your own company?
I discovered my passion and knew that it was something that I could do for the rest of my life. Starting your own business can be scary, but I didn’t want fear to lead to regret later in life.
Do you think you found your passion in life?
100%! I love helping others reach and exceed their fitness goals to become the best versions of themselves.
What made you become an Island Ambassador?
I was immediately drawn to the emphasis placed on the fitness culture and the outdoor culture and just being active in general. I think that is an important message that speaks to balance. My favorite thing about Island Brands is being part of Team Active! A clean, low calorie beer is perfect for my active lifestyle!
What advice do you have for people just getting into health and fitness?
Consistency is key. Find a way to permanently put your workout into your schedule each week so that it becomes a part of your weekly routine.
What keeps you motivated through a workout, your day, or in general?
Fitness is a lifestyle. It’s a part of my life, just like waking up and brushing my teeth. I also want to ensure that I’m able to continue to be healthy as I get older, diabetes and hypertension is prevalent in my family. With proper fitness and nutrition, I plan to end that trend.
What are you hoping to accomplish by the end of 2020?
I’m hoping to open my own gym by the end of 2020, I’ll share the details soon!
Final question, What do you want people to know about you?
I serve on the Board of Directors for a great non-profit in Atlanta Ga, Urban Perform. Our mission is to provide accessible, affordable, holistic health programming centered on physical activity and healthy eating that empowers Atlanta's westside community to live healthier, longer lives.
Basically, we want people to live longer. We want to bridge the life expectancy gap in the neighborhoods in Atlanta. People in Buckhead live 25 years longer than people who live in Vine City, English Ave, Washington Park and all the other westside neighborhoods. However, they are located less than 4 miles apart. We provide programming that merges physical activity and healthy eating to get this accomplished!
